• Apologies for being a ghost yesterday, Boils and Ghouls…

With a depleting energy battery 🪫 on the fritz and a busy weekend lined up, I decided to give myself a true Slow Saturday yesterday (as some may have noticed last night’s radio silence on the blog.) It’s been a busy month for many reasons, so some self-TLC was definitely required and present focus absolutely needed.

    …I hear you, Charlie

Oh, and if you haven’t already…

to be notified of posts- we like creepers here 🕷️

Since I’m still recouping my energy, I’m going to make today’s blog post short ‘n spooky… but I’m really excited to introduce you to my latest tarot card deck, and boy, is it ever on brand for me 🙈

Meet my Horror Tarot Deck 💀

Meet the Tarot Deck Creator & view her illustrations 👀

Why This Tarot Deck in Particular?

First, it screams my dark & disturbed energy

I was drawn to the art style and the horror theme. I’m only newly into Tarot, and have been learning on my own for the past few years, but I’d love to get truly confident in my readings and card interpretations down the road.

And secondly, I really like the guidebook format and how each card’s interpretation has an upright and reverse description so you really capture the duality that exists, and how not every thing we perceive may mean what we originally interpret…

Daily 🔮 Card Pull – A New Ritual

Recently, I’ve started pulling a daily card each morning (or letting the deck toss out the card during a cleansed shuffling) and then I’ll reflect on the card’s meaning or message:

Three knocks before you shuffle to cleanse the energy

    and today’s pull was…

    Queen of Swords 🗡️

    Minor Arcana – Air

a fiercely independent, analytical truth-seeking individual

Having too much can be a curse around your neck. But if your intellect and emotions are aligned, the Queen of Swords may reveal that your feminine power can be expressed without fear. You have high goals and know how to reach them.
    Horror Tarot 🩸 Guidebook

my own personal interpretation & card takeaways

Aligning your inner fearless self with your known external powers. Strong and fiercely ready to override fear and lean directly into the empowered, intuitive feminine forces, with a healthy and clearly balanced mind.

Prioritize and structure your goals to align with your true determined self, and feel energized to succeed in your accomplishments, to continuously inspire others to fearlessly move through life.

Organize the chaos, in your favor 👑

    Reading & Intention Setting

I want to really practice my readings using this Tarot deck and hopefully feel comfortable enough to give personal readings to loved ones in the future! If you enjoyed this post and want me to do more Tarot card blog posts, let me know 💬

  • We did it! 👏🏻

Another week completed and in the books, Boils and Ghouls!

I’m hoping it was as thrilling and productive for you as possible, and now wishing that you have a rejuvenating weekend to look forward to, and some lovely spring weather to welcome!

On the eastern coast of Canada 🌊 we usually welcome a mixed bag of weather for our Spring season (e.g., it could be high temperature summer sunny one day, and then a frost warning the next…) so when planning outfits, I’m always looking for a good transitional wardrobe to build outfits with (i.e., items you can layer upon or customize within a season to brace for those colder, outlier days 🥶)

    Friday’s Fashion Icon 🤩

But before we get into tonight’s post, let me introduce you to

A true style icon on Parallel and such an inspirational IG content creator– Becka Hake’s chill and casual vibes give off the coziest and most chic outfits that look perfect for that seasonal transition, and feels so effortless and easy to recreate, or customize to rock in your own way!

    Chunky boots & skirts

I’m such a fan of big shoes – be it platform sandals, skate sneakers, or chunky sole combat boots – I just feel like many of my current style guide and outfit inspos revolve around a big, chunky footwear.

It feels chic, edgy, yet effortlessly casual- the tee, skirt and light cardigan- with cozy spirited energy that completes the entire look.

It’s perfect for an overcast-y spring afternoon… to grab an iced beverage and browse the town…

And to dress up the look, rock it out with a vintage blazer to give it that Night Out edge!

    Weekend Market Trip Vibes

Who has the energy to dress up on a Saturday morning? I’m definitely not one of those souls. So on the weekend, I love a look that is easy to put together and ultra comfortable.

A baseball cap, comfy wide-leg pants, cozy shirts and large totebags? Yes – my ideal weekend wardrobe. Especially when weekends are usually Laundry days…

When the coastal winds are still extra chilly and strong, I’ll choose to wear a jacket (e.g. like my leather blazer from Eva B) until a sweater is more appropriate 🤞🏻

    Blending Textures

The one thing I find so comforting is when I blend textures together. Mixing leathers with wool, suede with satin, etc. and find those items in my wardrobe to be the best for transitional outfit planning…

Looking AND feeling comfortable should be my official slogan for life… and frankly, the more layers your outfit has does increase the comfiness factor (to me, anyways… )

& When The Sun Starts To Come Out ☀️

    Retro Baby Tees

I can’t wait to wear my new baby tees and also break out all my cropped tees to rock during the warmer weather!

I spent last summer cropping a bunch of cool, local tees I found while thrifting to chic, crop tops to pair with shorts, skirts and high-waisted jeans.

    +

    FlowY Dresses

When it’s truly warm and humid, why would anyone want fitted clothing suffocating their skin? 🙈

Sure, some fitting is required (especially for strapless flowy dresses) but the less body-fitting, the better for warmer weather- in my opinion!

And I seriously can’t wait to break out some older flowy dresses from last summer and revamp them with some upcoming sewing projects I have in mind 🧵

Thanks for taking the time to read and browse through tonight’s Fashion Friday blog post. I hope you’ve been equally inspired to recreate these outfit looks this spring season!

    A Time For Recognition & Reflection 🌸

May is a blossoming month with the rebirth and renewal of a new season and new opportunities. It can also be a reflective time to gain new perspectives and new insights, which happens to be the focus of today’s blog…

In May 2022, Canada officially declared the month of May as
    Asian Heritage Month 🤗

I want to share some resources with you that you can read and check out to gain more knowledge on the history and origin of Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month before we get into today’s blog!

Your local libraries would be a great resource to use to educate yourself, recognize and take reflection this month on Asian Heritage within your community!

Here’s a couple of Canadian 🍁 Asian Authors to check out:

    Vincent Lam

Speaking of books and reading, I have such a deep passion for reading translated literary fiction. Whenever I’m browsing my local bookshops, I always find myself engrossed in the various captivating titles and beautiful cover art.

So I wanted to dedicate today’s blog post, in celebration of Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage month, to the various API Authors and their literary works of enchanting magic (or dark depravity.)
